FOH Autumn updates!

Following the confusion of whether FOH would be able to take place with regard to social distancing guidelines, members of the FOH team had an important zoom meeting with our creative director, Warren, to deliver the updates on the project and how things will run.

This blog post will contain my notes from the meeting and my reflections on the updates...

Firstly, I am very pleased that the exhibition and overall project will still be going ahead! We are now looking at the project to take place in spring 2021 (February - April).

The main change to the project, brought about by covid, is that we are now planning for the workshops to take place with students online. I was pleased to hear that materials will still be provided and distributed to participating students despite the drawing workshops not happening in person as this was my first concern upon hearing the shift to online resources. This enables the project to continue to achieve it's aim to benefit students by opening opportunities to the arts to students regardless of background.

We will aim to involve the context of the pandemic into the context of FOH. This will help the project be authentic in it's aim to encompass the 'now' whilst reflecting and learning an appreciation for the past.

Warren announced the library's new maximum capacity which is 30 people, this must also involve and allow for people to use the library outside of viewing the exhibition.

This directly affects what we had in mind for the launch event... instead this will potentially manifest as a 'press day' which will aim to generate recognition for the exhibition whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Luckily, the show is scheduled to be open for month, allowing enough time for the public to be able to view the exhibition.

The main thing to think about now for me, is how to curate an exhibition in a public space within our current conditions. This involves considering placement, signage and safety precautions within the curation of the exhibition. Whilst this will inevitably be more difficult than before and have some restrictions to the curation, I'm looking forward to thinking about how we will be able to achieve this.
