Curating notes

 After having seen the gallery space via photos taken by Warren and Zuzu at the site, we now have the basic outlines for the exhibition...

We have 5 mannequins that are available to us. Of this, 1 will be used for the final garment, there may be 2 practice garments and potentially two by Nicola existing from previous work.

In addition to this, we have potentially two glass cases which can be used for the exhibition. One will be used to show Rosalyn's fashion illustration background linking to her background at Kiln Polytechnic. The other will potentially be showing documents and sketches from Warren's background in Brent. The purpose of these two cases being to relate the project back to the area of Brent and to give a personal background of the project. 

Additionally, we will have a film by Tilly which will be shown on a freestanding tv monitor, which will stand underneath the staircase in the center of the gallery space.

There is also a wall near the back of the gallery space which is available for our use and a few walls near the entry of the gallery space which we plan to use as an introduction area to the gallery.

The idea behind the separate entry/introduction area being that it would act as an individual space to prep the viewer on the background of the project, similarly to that of 'KIMONO: From Kyoto to Catwalk'.

Curatorial notes - things to think about

 After receiving the updates from the venue manager, myself and Warren are presented of a list of things to think about regarding the curation of the show... - how many mannequins we definitely want  - how many podiums for the mannequins we want and how tall do we want each of them - if we will use the unit we have been offered and how it will come into play with the rest of the exhibition - what we will put on show in the unit - whether we will put a partition wall beneath the stairs and/or will be drape fabric from the stairs to the floor behind the mannequins - if we are unable to use the large white wall at the back, how will we include sketches/photos in the exhibition that were going to be shown in the gallery wall - will we still have the collage of film stills underneath the stairs, how far will this go up - will we have wooden flooring for underneath the mannequins, in what shape and how large - if we do have the gallery wall, how many photoframes will we need

FOH exhibition updates

 Here is a small list of updates that creative director, Warren, delivered after having spoken to the venue manager... - The triangular flooring must be taken up, however Warren's dad is prepared to make us something similar - We have been offered the use of a small unit which has shelves etc for the exhibition - We are not able to have a partition wall against the back of the bookcases, however we are able to use the back of the bookcases - We may be allowed a partition wall beneath the stairs - We definitely have the use of at least one glass case which will show Rosalyn's portfolio - We may not have access to the white wall at the back of the venue which we were thinking of using for a gallery wall. However, we should plan for either option as there is still a possibility we might. - If we do get to use the white wall at the back, we can definitely spraypaint the wall
